| Customer Reviews: Couldn't Get Past The Taste..... February 27, 2010 Leisa Chances are, if you don't care much for the taste of black licorice, you aren't going to find this tea very appealing. The black licorice flavor was so overpowering that I wasn't really able to distinguish or really even taste any of the other herbs/ingredients. Have to give this 1 star (my first bad rating here on amazon) there has got to be a way to get the ingredients needed for "healthy milk production" without such a horrid taste. Also, I BELIEVE the box said to let it sit for 10 minutes (rather lengthy time period) and to have at least 3 cups per day. That's torture with the way this stuff tastes!
Yuck! January 16, 2010 Bluemoon (Maryland) The taste is disgusting and I am having to struggle just to keep it down! I hope that it does increase my milk supply but I don't know if I'm even going to finish the box. I'm trying Mild Maid next time since the taste is supposedly better.
hardly works on me, but tastes good September 13, 2009 M. Elias (uk) I've had breastfeeding problems since the beginning, and I tried everything with little or no success. A friend recommended this product, and, unsurprisedly, it doesn't seem to have a strong effect on me (but perhaps a 20% increase with the pump? But 20% of very little is not much anyway...). It seems to work for most women, though, and it tastes great so doesn't harm!
It really works September 3, 2009 BabyMomma I've always had problems pumping enough milk from the very beginning. I went from pumping around 3 ounces at work to 4 or even (sometimes) 5 ounces. I've always aimed to get 3 pumps of 4 ounces each and I was always coming up way short. Now, I have enough to give my son extra milk each day.
I can tell that I get more milk after I've had some tea verses when I've had very little tea. I have more milk at noon with the tea, than in the morning after hardly any tea. I have more milk later in the week after 3 days of tea, than on Monday morning after a weekend of no tea.
I usually have to have 3 to 5 cups of tea a day. You do get used to the taste. The only side effects I have noticed is that it makes me thirsty (more than likely from producing more milk), it gives me hot flashes, and it makes my son's toots really smelly. :)
noticeable change June 19, 2009 rhiannon (florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i started drinking this tea when my daughter was two weeks old; i brew a huge pot with 5 bags, steep until it cools, and then store it in the fridge to chug throughout the day. i noticed an increase in my milk production after about 4 days--i went from pumping 1/2 to 1oz to at least 2oz every time (while nursing full-time). i agree the price is steep and that fenugreek tincture might be better, but it has worked for me. i hate licorice but the taste is mild and much more tolerable when iced!
