 Plastic bottle smells and black paint comes off! June 12, 2010

I have two complaints about this "deluxe cupcake kit." First: The plastic bottle that is used as the frosting pen. When I opened the bottle out of the box, it smelled like chemicals. I washed it several times but the smell didn't go away. I looked at my fingers after touching the bottle and noticed that they were covered in the black paint used for the "zebra stripes", YIKES!! If you are trying to market yourself as a natural and organic product FOR KIDS, make sure you use safe plastics and paint!!
Second complaint: Why have pictures of a penguin and a candy-swirled cupcake on the packaging when you cannot recreate them with the contents of your "deluxe cupcake kit"?? You have to buy additional food coloring, which is not explained on the outside of the box. It's not until you read the B side of the instruction map that you must provide your own food coloring. This is very misleading.
I think it's a great idea to have an all natural, kids/user-friendly cupcake kit (unlike the artificial junk in most baking kits designed for kids) but for pete's sakes, make sure that the plastics are all BPA and phthalate-free with SAFE paint or maybe NO paint at all, and have pictures of cupcakes on the packaging that you can easily recreate with the contents of your pricey kit.

WOW this was super expensive BUT it actually was verrry tasty! We purchased it at Toys R Us on Clearance for $9.00. we failed to read on the back of the box as to what actually was in this kit - there is nothing other then the cupcake mix, frosting, liners, sprinkles and a tube to use for decorating. The tube was very hard to fill, but once filled it really was quite fun for the kids (6 & 4) to draw on the cupcakes. It doesnt supply the food coloring which for this price you would think they would. Fun cupcake decorating ideas in it though - very easy for kids to understand! It was fun and very tasty BUT I would NEVER EVER buy it again for that much! Insanely expensive! i will take the information I learned from this and make cupcakes from scratch and let kids draw items on them with the information they gave!
